The euphoria around Elementor is not abating, even though the product has been on the market for almost six years. And that is for sure not a coincidence. Well-grounded as it is, not every WordPress user is convinced that Elementor is the most accessible builder on the Internet. Yet, over 3 million people and I take advantage of it, so you should consider joining the Elementor family.
Elementor is undoubtedly among the leading positions in the WordPress builders competition, so it is far from perfect, just like people. Today we are about to dive deep into the Elementor platform, especially the free version, and hopefully, in the end, you will draw the conclusion you need – should you try using Elementor or install another WordPress builder plugin.
Let’s start from the beginning and the question every newbie would ask – what is Elementor actually? Aware of the answer to this question, you can skip the forthcoming paragraph. If not – do not worry. I promise everything will be clear for you at the end of this article.
So, let’s get things straight. Do you want to create a website but are incapable of coding, or do you want to spend as little time and money as possible? This is when Elementor comes into the room. The drag-and-drop page builder plugin allows you to create any layout you can imagine by combining different elements as a puzzle.
I also prefer to get the information I need as synthesized as possible, but it’s worth reading to the end of the review. Anyway, here’s some information:
- Best for: Digital marketers, casual users and freelancers
- Price: Elementor has free and premium options
– Integration Capabilities
– Tutorials (even for beginners)
– Site speed
– not SEO friendly
Benefits and features of Elementor
Let’s start with this – Elementor is free. You can access a drag-and-drop, user-friendly tool with 100+ free widgets and 2000 pre-made templates without spending a dollar. But what else do you get by installing the builder plugin?
Personally, what prompted me to choose Elementor is the support they offer – chat, knowledge bases, email help desk, forum and webinars. Wondering where to start? Take a look at their beginner’s course on YouTube, and you’ll probably get the hang of it. Can’t add the desired plugin? Search a keyword in their official forum, and “Aparecium” the answer is there.
And its benefits are far from ending here. You can do almost everything you can think about: customize the template you started with, add extra elements, and integrate with kits and tools. Oh, also, you don’t have to worry about responsiveness – Elementor will take care of everything for you. However, this may not seem like something fascinating, right?
Ever happened to wonder, “Did I get caught up in the designing?”. Yes, it always happens to me also, don’t worry. Just switch directly to the live version and check it out. Moreover, it’s even more astonishing – you can travel back in time with the “History Revision”, preventing a specific change.
I think this is enough for now, even though I can continue talking about how and actually why Elementor is so fascinating. But it is time to move on.
Yet, the rumours are true – there are some irritating disadvantages.
Undoubtedly the biggest drawback is the pre-made templates. Not only are the options available in the library too few, but they are also inappropriate most of the time. This is exactly why Elementor is aimed more at people who want to design their own pages.
The variety of plugins is significant, but the consequences are not insignificant. You want to add this and that, and you do it, but the result is there – the site’s speed slows down. This reminds me of a joke, which I promise is not slow to get a laugh. But we shouldn’t change the focus now, so once you get to the end of the review, you’ll see it – it’s worth it, honestly.
As for the updates, the team at Elementor always strives to make everything perfect and satisfy all customers. This is where the problem comes in. They consider user requests and add options the customers are looking for, but the changes are not always sufficiently tested and work as desired. The only result is an additional headache.
Users’ discontent continue to weaken templates library, no Whitelabel version and fewer SEO tools, but as I said – no one is perfect.
Pro versio of the page builder
The Elementor Pro version has more choices, obviously. Moreover, the advantages are certainly significant in design, and the freedom allows you to recreate even the craziest design ideas.
Let’s take a quick look:
– More than 50 additional widgets
– Pop-up builders with advanced features
– 300+ demo imports
– Premium support
– Adding custom CSS
The variety of plans is also significant. The key difference is due to the number of websites you work with. And the prices, while seemingly high, are totally reasonable considering everything you get in return.
Deciding which version is better for you depends only on your needs. Wanting to have more flexibility while designing – do not buy the Pro version. However, do not be closed-fisted if the main goal is to save as much time as possible and relay more to the pre-made themes and other stuff.
There’s certainly not just one kind of chocolate in the nearby store. Everyone’s taste is different, and there are a lot of choices, so you can decide exactly which one is right for you. But how to find out, except to try it? Precisely the same goes for WordPress builder plugins – you need to get to know the choices in the market.
For over 3 million users, Elementor is the leader over its main competitors, but you should look over the features of the other WordPress builders – Brizy, Thrive Architect, SeedProd, Beaver Builder…
Quite similar, most WordPress builders offer the same facilities to their users. But each has its peculiarities – like chocolate. Elementor doesn’t boast a wide selection of templates like Divi, but for the bill, its free version is quite enough to achieve the desired effect as far as design is concerned, while SeedProd offers nothing for no money.
When it comes to beginners, there’s no need to go into grave detail – whichever platform you choose, you won’t go wrong. But at a more professional level, the divide is more serious.
– Beaver Builder – best for developers who want several module options
– Themify Builder – best for developers who need to create templates
– Thrive Architect – best for developers who create a sales-focused website
So, you need to assess your needs and make an informed choice. Think carefully!
Besides me, nearly 6,000 other people are more than fascinated by the possibilities of Elementor, as the reviews on the web show. The WordPress builder boasts 4.7 stars out of 5, which is enough for itself. But that doesn’t mean anything because you may have very different needs. Just be familiar with the other options on the market – you can easily do it by taking the time to read a similar review, though it’s unlikely to be as good as this one.
What did you decide? If you want Elementor – buy it right away.
The best for the end – the joke
Why didn’t any species of sloth go extinct over time? They hadn’t really made plans to go anywhere.
